Whew, what a whirlwind the past month has been for those of us who call SW Florida home or those who visit here. Hurricane Ian battered our area on Sept 28, 2022. This absolute monster of a storm was only 1-2 mph less intense than a Category 5 Hurricane! It made landfall pretty much dead center of us here in Lee County. The storm was so massive that it destroyed areas as far as an hour away in all directions, and further as it made its way across the state of Florida as well. Since this is a real estate website we are going to focus on things that affect the real estate market. We will work to update this page as we have more information. Please keep in mind that things are likely to change as time moves on and some details provided here may be outdated depending on when you are visiting this page. I am writing this on Oct 26, 2022, almost exactly a month (actually 4 weeks) after Hurricane Ian landed upon us all here.
Great progress has been made but we are not "back to normal" and won't be for quite some time. Even those people who were lucky enough to not have a ton of damage personally are still feeling the effects of the area as a whole as we work to recover and rebuild our beautiful coastal communities.
Below is a link to several videos I have shot during and after the Hurricane.
Here is another playlist I have created with other videos others have created as well:

Our broker, Susan Milner, also recently wrote an article going over the FEMA 50% rules about fixing up homes you might find interesting if you own property here or are considering an investment.
As always, if we can assist you in any way with your real estate needs please reach out to us directly. Our team is ready to help you whether you are looking to buy, sell or need an agent referral in another area.
Homes are still selling ~ If you would like an idea of what your home's current market value may be just fill out this short form for an estimate. Obviously, without knowing more about the condition of your home this estimate can be off but we are happy to inspect in person to let you know a more accurate valuation number.
I also just want to say that our state of Florida and our Governor Ron DeSantis were Godsends during this. Take a look at a press conference today. They were able to build bridges in record time to Pine Island and Sanibel and are working at lightspeed on cleanup and now working on temp housing. Amazing.
